This insanely time consuming beauty comes in the form of an extensively hand worked, stamped and artified, black hinged and lidded box. Each unique box is covered inside and out with pictures and texts, all individually hand printed on the the back of pages of vintage accordion sheet music, and a strip of salvaged antique bellows fabric. Embedded in the bottom of the box in clear resin is a 3D collage of sorts of disassembled, broken and re-purposed accordion parts, keys and buttons. Folded above this is a hand made “paper accordion”, and above that the factory pressed disc itself, in a black envelope which is held by the corner of a colorful accordion bellows section. Each box is wrapped outside with thread, which is tied to a hand sewn button, and with an attached vintage playing card as well. Phew!

Giacomo has provided the beautifully dense and drone filled accordion ambiances, and Francesco has worked his magic manipulating and processing these sounds, with added field recordings, into a glorious and at times even industrially fueled, expansive wall of aural bliss and intensity. Melodic, and yet fiercely relentless and driving at times…The Accordion Sessions is both a fitting soundtrack to these seemingly overpowering days we live in now, and an avant-homage to this favorite instrument of more peaceful, innocent and nostalgic times.
"I don't know what have the accordion of so communicative that when we hear it makes the heart beat faster. [...] Personally I would make a statue of this nostalgic bellows, bitterly human, that looks like a sad animal."
Gabriel Garcia Marquez - "Textos Costeños", Mayo de 1948
"The Accordion Sessions", is an album entirely made with a Pigini chromatic button accordion and field recordings, that transcend the soul of this traditional instruments in our time, creating a new emotional experience of the intensity of the bellows.
Francesco Maria Narcisi & Giacomo Fidanza comes from "Le Marche", the region of Italy where Paolo Soprani built his company of accordion manufactureres in Castelfidardo in 1863. In a couple of years Castelfidardo became the capital of accordion builders in the world but the accordion was often blurred by the fame of the classical orchestra instrument, probably because of its use in traditional music, although was periodically reevaluate in classical music and jazz.
In the groove of rediscover the origins, the local identities and its soundscapes, the aim of "The Accordion Sessions" it's to rethinking this very expressive instrument, often twisting its sound spectrum, in the context of the current research lines in acusmatic and electroacustic music with manipolations, samplings, looping & cutting on a series of accordion improvisation recording sessions.
